Boundary data: Alibaba Cloud DataV GeoAtlas. Province shapes are assembled from detailed subdivisions. Shared borders are reconciled for display. Original source files are retained.

Hong Kong uses the Home Affairs Department’s 18 district boundaries, clipped to the Lands Department’s coastline to exclude sea areas. Data © Hong Kong SAR Government, provided through DATA.GOV.HK and CSDI. Macau uses seven parishes and four other areas from the Macao government map. Government source geometry is retained without simplification. Chinese names for Hong Kong and Macau use traditional characters.

Taiwan’s 22 divisions use NLSC county and city boundaries, under the Taiwan Open Government Data License 1.0. The downloaded file is COUNTY_MOI_1090820.shp. Nearby islands are included in the initial Taiwan view; distant island polygons remain in the dataset.

Xinxing and Baiyang use the AreaCity / Amap boundary release of 3 April 2026 (MIT license). Their areas are cut out of the older surrounding prefectures. Caohu has an administrative entry, but its boundary is unavailable.

Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Guangzhou and Shenzhen include 53 district, county and county-level city boundaries from AreaCity (Amap/Tencent), checked against DataV. Detailed shared edges are reconciled and clipped to the existing city extent. Small uncovered perimeter areas still select the city. Suzhou Industrial Park is displayed separately using its current management extent, with an OpenStreetMap boundary and the park government’s administrative description. District sources and coverage.

Wikipedia article links are matched through Wikidata. Landmark photos retain their original pixel dimensions and load on demand. Photographer credits, licenses and original files are available in the photo viewer. Photo credits and sources.

Shenzhen’s city and district land edges use detailed OpenStreetMap shorelines. The shared Shenzhen–Hong Kong land border follows the official Hong Kong coordinates. Other inland borders and Hong Kong’s geometry are retained. Coastlines follow mapped high-water land edges; tides, reclamation and imagery dates can cause small differences. Coastline sources · Shenzhen–Hong Kong border report · Land mask (ODbL 1.0) · Original coastline ways (gzip JSON).

Zhuhai, Guangzhou and Huizhou use detailed OpenStreetMap physical shorelines, including offshore islands. Island assignments are checked against the national standard-name catalogue and Guangzhou’s island plan. Coastline sources · Island and geometry checks · Land mask (ODbL 1.0, gzip JSON) · Original coastline ways.

Shanghai and Zhoushan use detailed OpenStreetMap physical shorelines. Nanhui follows the permanent land edge along the seawall, excluding tidal flats and retaining the raised harbor access. Nanhui land-edge report. The existing Shanghai–Jiangsu administrative boundary on Chongming is retained.
